I love books, but I can only read one book at a time these days, with 6 kids its hard to find time to read one book never mind any more than that. Also thanks to the kids, I am able to finish where ever in a book and carry on again from there, with a quick scan of the paragraph before. I do enjoy reading and my preferred genre is Fantasy Fiction, with wizards, and magic and mythical creatures from alternate ‘ye olde’ style worlds. But I am willing to try other books. Like now for example I am trying to read Wuthering Heights, and I mean trying. The start I found confusing, I had no idea who was telling the story and from whose perception. The middle I found to be not quite the passionate doomed love I was expecting, from what I had heard anyway. I am now nearly at the end, but so close to just putting it down and starting another book, but I will battle through.
“I’m trying to settle how I shall pay Hindley back. I don’t care how long I wait, if I can only do it at last. I hope he will not die before I do! – Emily Bronte, Wuthering Heights, Ch. 7
All my children love to read books, even 6 will sit and look at the brightly coloured pictures of his cloth or board books, 5, 4 & 3 cant wait for their bed time stories. 2 prefers comics, but 1 is a HUGE reader, and will read anything and everything.
Oh and it HAS to be a bookmark or anything I can find to pop in the pages. No corner turning here.
So how about you?
Can you read more than one book at a time? Do you have books to suit your mood?
Are you a little OCD when it comes to where to finish reading for the night? Do you have to read to the end of the chapter or are you able to stop mid sentence?
Or how about when you start a book, but you are not quite enjoying it, do you persevere or do you give up and never attempt it again??
I have finished it… I did it.
And I am as confused as the day I started it. I swear I missed a few pages, or even a chapter somewhere. Still have no idea of what went on.
